CI Without Limits: Where Lean Thinking Meets AI Innovation

Last month the Lean Competency System (LCS) community came together at Computacenter HQ for a dynamic in-person event, hosted by Zoe Hawkes and her team. The day, themed “CI Without Limits: Where Lean Thinking Meets AI Innovation — Anywhere”, explored how organisations are embedding Continuous Improvement (CI) alongside AI, and how global teams can work smarter to drive transformation.

The event began with introductions to LCS and Computacenter, followed by an overview of their CI journey. Attendees gained insights into how CI is deployed across global operations and heard firsthand from the senior leadership team about their priorities and expectations for CI teams. One key takeaway highlighted throughout the day was:

“It is not a project – it is a mindset.”

This simple line captured the essence of continuous improvement: a culture, not a one-off initiative.

Engaging Workshops

The sessions were highly interactive, including workshops on:

  • AI and the Lean Revolution — exploring how AI can augment Lean practices to improve efficiency and decision-making.
  • Deploying CI Globally — practical strategies for scaling CI across international teams and sustaining impact.

Representatives from OpX.io shared their innovative Ironman model for CI, demonstrating how AI can act as an interface between humans and technology to accelerate improvement. The workshops sparked discussion, collaboration, and idea-sharing among attendees from around the globe.

Leadership Insights

A highlight of the day was the Q&A with Computacenter senior leaders, who offered candid reflections on the role of CI and shared the importance of fostering the right environment for continuous improvement to thrive.

People at the Heart of CI

Beyond the workshops and presentations, the event reinforced a central message: people are at the heart of successful CI. Attendees connected with peers, shared experiences, and explored ways to embed a continuous improvement mindset across their organisations.
